Vendredi/Friday 25.11.2011

At around 10:00 apm I hear a vacuum noise in the hallway. I go out and see several people cleaning the rooms and a pile of dirty sheets on the floor. I try to explain that it is not necessary to change our sheets as we leave tomorrow. But how, no one speaks English or French? I take a pencil and a paper and write 25.11.2011, draw a bed, 26.11.2011 and draw a plane taking off. They look at me with big eyes. One of them speaks with the reception. It doesn’t help. Finally, one has a stroke of genius and understands. They show me with their hands that they will not change the sheets. Now we understand each other.
I go out to take a picture of a poster at the "sinema". I translate the title from Turkish to French with Google Translation: “The faithful servant of Allah”. It is a religious film. There are many posters in town and this film is shown at the university cinema..
In the city most women wear a veil and are dressed in European way but very long. We also see women completely covered in black from head to foot, with just a slit for the eyes.
I take also a picture of the campus entrance. People who work her has a pass on their windshield and the barrier opens automaticaly. The other leave their driving licence with a guard and get it back when they leave. There is only one entrance for the cars.
I stroll into town in the afternoon, but it's really cold, - 8 º.
Back, I ask for a good cup of tea. In the late afternoon, Jens calls me. Zulal is back from school, maybe we can meet ? I get dressed and go to her home. I carry my computer and we watch pictures of Norway, the boat trip from Sweden etc. Then we look at her photos. We discuss and share a pomegranate.
Around 7:30 pm, Mehmet picks us up, he is not giving his class, he has a headache. We are eight people in to cars and we are going to the ski jumping tower. No, no we will not jump, do not worry. But we'll drink tea in the cafe at the top. The city view is magnificent. But it's hard to take pictures with the reflections in the large windows. The room is round and the tables are placed at a right angle to large windows. Zulal and I are close to the window and we can feel the cold. We drink tea ... and stay for dinner.
Then Mehmet and Zulal bring us back to the residence by car. Passing the big thermometer, we see that it is - 13 º!
